An Italian music tour to celebrate the 2500 years since the founding of the city of Naples
The Institute is delighted to invite you to a series of four concerts dedicated to contemporary Italian music. The tour will feature Ars Nova, one of the most distinctive folk-rock groups on the European scene and a leading voice of the Nu-Folk genre. The band will perform in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah in a tour organized by our Institute in collaboration with local partners, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and the committee for the Neapolis2500, Napoli Musa celebrations.
Ars Nova Napoli started out busking in the streets of Naples. Sixteen years later, they’ve played Lincoln Center, festivals across five continents, and built a reputation as one of Italy’s most loved contemporary folk bands – with this performance powered by Sennheiser for an exceptional live sound experience. This is southern Italian folk music that’s vibrant, high-energy, and unpredictable. Mandolins, accordions, frame drums, and a double bass play centuries-old melodies in ways you wouldn’t expect to hear from traditional Italian music. The band spent years learning these songs directly from locals across Apulia, Sicily, and Calabria, then brought them into the Nu Folk scene with their own sound and style. For this show, they’re playing Mediterranean melodies and unpublished compositions you won’t hear anywhere else.
