Frontiers invites you into the world of contemporary dance–a space alive with experimentation
This series presents Harleking, two bold performances by up-and-coming choreographers who remind us that dance isn’t just confined to the body, it is an energy that erupts, transforms, and questions everything in its path.
The programme is presented in collaboration with Alserkal Avenue, Aerowaves, Goethe-Institut Gulf Region, ATER Fondazione and our Italian Cultural Institute in Abu Dhabi.
Aerowaves is a hub for dance discovery in Europe comprising 46 partners in 34 countries committed to identifying and nurturing emerging choreographers.

Harleking is a character with many identities, inspired by Harlequin from the Commedia dell’Arte, clever and driven by endless hunger. Its way of communicating is mesmerizing but confusing, mixing extremes into something unpredictable.
About the Artists
Ginevra Panzetti and Enrico Ticconi, based in Berlin and Turin, have been working as a duo since 2008. Their artistic research interlaces dance, performance and visual art. They delve into themes related to the historical connection between communication, violence and power, basing themselves on ancient performances, creating hybrid figures or images between history and reality. They gained international recognition with their choreographic work, Harleking (2018), which in addition to being presented at some of the most important international festivals, was presented at the European platform AEROWAVES Twenty 19, the New Italian Dance (NID) Platform and by Tanzplatform Deutschland 2020.
