Dante and the Good Lesson of Interculture

dante e la buona lezione dellintercultura 2

"The figure of Dante Alighieri, whose seventh centenary since his death is celebrated in 2021, is crucial in emphasizing the valuable interactions between Italian and European culture and Arab-Muslim culture.

It is also an excellent starting point to highlight the developments of interculture, the establishment and maintenance of cultural relationships as forms of dialogue and mutual exchange of knowledge, from the Divine Comedy to the developments of the Islamic-Christian dialogue.

- Maria Ida Gaeta Introductory greetings (streaming from Rome)
- Ida Zilio-Grandi Dante Alighieri and the Islamic culture
- Wael Farouq Dante’s Influence on Modern Arabic Literature
- Jason Welle From Dante to the present day: developments in the Islamic-Christian dialogue in
support of world peace
- Angela Nuovo The story of a lost and found Book: the first printed Qur’an (Venice 1537-1538)

The conference will be introduced by the street theater performance of the actress Francesca Bizzarri, who will present La Divina Coppia (The Divine Couple).

A puppet Dante - shaped by Ilaria Comisso - and a more than talkative Beatrice - thanks to Cecilia Resio's texts - will be going around in and out of the pavilion, from 3pm to 5pm.

We hope to see you there!
