The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation supports and encourages the implementation of missions abroad and in Italy by researchers, professors, experts, personalities, and cultural operators, whether Italian or foreign, invited by university and cultural institutions to foster collaborations and joint research programs.
PURPOSE OF THE GRANT
Researchers, professors, experts, personalities, and cultural operators:
a) Italians and foreigners residing in Italy for at least two years, invited by foreign university or cultural institutions for study or research purposes;
b) Foreigners and Italians residing abroad, invited by Italian university or cultural institutions for study or research purposes;
may request financial support from the MAECI to partially cover travel and accommodation expenses. The grant is provided as a lump sum of up to €1,500 or €3,000, depending on the destination, for a maximum period of 10 days of activity. The grant will not be provided beyond the tenth day of stay. Only days dedicated to cultural and/or research activities will be counted.
APPLICATION AND PAYMENT PROCEDURE
Interested applicants may submit their grant applications, prepared according to the attached template and complete with the required documentation, to the Italian Cultural Institute of Abu Dhabi at: abudhabiiic.segre@esteri.it
DEADLINES
Applications, accompanied by the necessary documentation, including the final report of the completed mission and the approval of the hosting institution, must be submitted no later than July 1, 2025. The grant is eligible for all activities taking place between January 1 and November 15, 2025.
Only applications from individuals who have received an official invitation from a university or cultural institution will be accepted, with priority given to invitations within the framework of bilateral Cultural Cooperation Agreements and Executive Programs.
For Italian applicants or residents of Italy, the invitation must come from a foreign university or cultural institution. Conversely, for foreign applicants or Italians residing abroad, the invitation must be issued by an Italian institution.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION FOR PAYMENT
Within ten days of completing the mission, in order to receive the grant, the applicant must submit the following documents to the hosting institution and the relevant Unit:

Travel documents, such as airline tickets and boarding passes;

A certificate of attendance issued by the host institution;

A final report on the activities carried out.
